Class Descriptions & Levels:

G- Gentle, slow paced class; beginners welcome

I- Moderate, fluid class; some experience recommended

II- Vigorous, challenging class; solid yoga knowledge recommended

Anusara Inspired: Based on the teachings of John Friend & Rajanaka Tantric Philosophy, every class begins with a heart-opening theme and takes students on an uplifting & challenging journey of the body, mind and spirit. Each class is grounded in the universal principles of alignment and teaches students to playfully 'flow with grace' as they align with nature and the rhythms of the universe.

Anusara Yoga Basics: In this thoughtfully sequenced class, you will learn the key components of this elegant and celebratory system of yoga as we move, sweat, breathe, and expand in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. We will move at a slow to moderate pace. All abilities and body types are welcome. Prepare to be appropriately challenged, have FUN, and to try new things!
* This class is not appropriate for those who want an extra-gentle class, or who are dealing with the acute phases of injury or illness.

In this class we will focus on:
* Many of the basic poses of Anusara Yoga from the Level I Syllabus, including proper alignment, modification, and use of props.
* The 3 A's of Anusara & The 5 Universal Principles of Alignment (UPA's) that will help you quickly make progress in every pose.
* Breath as the dance of the goddess, plus energizing and calming breath techniques to use during and before/after practice.
* The Anusara Invocation and other simple chants to open the voice.
* Meditation techniques to balance body, mind and spirit.
* Relaxing & blissful restorative poses.

Community Class: This class is an opportunity for new teachers to practice teaching or for seasoned teachers to offer their skills at a reduced rate.  It is our gift to the community. Expect a Level I (moderate class) and feel free to come and move at your own pace in a supportive atmosphere.  $5-$10 donation.

Inspired by uplifting and life-affirming Tantric philosophy, each session will be a unique and playful adventure of mind, body, and spirit. Woven through each class will be story, poetry, and deep connection to the nature world as we celebrate our kula (community of the Heart) and this delicious gift of embodiment through yoga!

This class is for people with a strong foundation in basic yoga asana. Solid Level 1 students are encouraged to join in the fun! It is not, however, an appropriate class for beginners or people with serious injuries or limitations.

Yoga and Mountains

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good. You
do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the
desert repenting. You only have to let
the soft animal of your body love what
it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and
I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world
goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear
pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep
trees, the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the
clean blue air, are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh
and exciting— over and over announcing
your place in the family of things.
